Introducing a new league of superheroes...your students!

About The Greater Purpose Project
Youth Heroes Program
The Greater Purpose Project Youth Heroes Program empowers young people of all ages, abilities, and socio-economic back-grounds to discover their inner-superhero of helping others. #GPP's Youth Heroes Program provides students with the opportunity to discover their purpose and value through rich and diverse service projects that benefit themselves and the communities they live in. While our programs are available to ALL, we prioritize working with at-risk populations.

Student-Led
Greater Purpose Projects
Our team works with schools and youth organizations to develop and execute student-led Greater Purpose Projects. #GPP's Youth Heroes Program provides students with the mentoring and tools they need to accomplish large-scale service projects that benefit their local and global communities.  #GPP's curriculum helps students discover how to use their talents and skills ( we call those superpowers) to help others and love themselves. Some of our service projects include but are not limited to:
  • Creating pop-up libraries and hosting book drives for underserved communities
  • Hosting a food drive and creating hand-made blankets for families living on the San Carlos Apache Reservation
  • Pen-Pal Packages and Letters for US Military Troops Serving Overseas
  • Creating hand-made blankets, a welcome banner and greeting cards for refugee youth
  • Food Drive Challenges to Support Local Food Pantries (Kyrene Family Resource Center)
  • Jared Boxes (Care Packages/Cards) for Pediatric Patients at Maricopa County Hospital
  • Quench Bags (Supply Bags/Resources) for neighbors experiencing homelessness
  • Student lead fundraisers for Phoenix Children's Hospital and #GPP's sister orphanage (Puente de Amistad - Nicaragua)
  • Easter Baskets for Child Crisis Arizona

These students from Greenfield Elementary School created Quench Bags, which included encouraging notes that we distributed to our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

These superheroes from the Boys and Girls Club (Peoria) hosted an item drive that filled Jared Boxes (shoe boxes) full of joy-filled items for kids being treated at Maricopa County Hospital. They also made handmade cards to include in their brightly decorated boxes.
Watch this video to see the story of 1600 students coming together for a Greater Purpose Project!
#GPP worked with the students from Noah Webster Schools to host a care package drive and pen-pal letter project for our US Military Members serving overseas!  After the students completed their Greater Purpose Project, #GPP celebrated them with a Superhero Assembly featuring a historic flag ceremony, meet and greet with US Olympic Hockey Player Lyndsey Fry and superhero activities!
Bonus! The grade that collected the most items chose  which superheroes their principals dressed up as.
Spoiler Alert: The principals dressed up as the Flash and the Incredible Hulk!
#GPP Superhero Assembly
After the students complete their Greater Purpose Project, #GPP's Superhero Squad rewards them with a "get out of your chair- wave your hands in the air," superhero assembly, which often features a positive celebrity role model.

Our Why:
Our kids and teens need us now more than ever. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for young people ages 10 - 24.  One in three high school students has reported a major depressive episode and instances of depression and anxiety are on the rise. #GPP's youth empowerment programs provide a solution to the youth mental health crisis by helping young people identify their purpose and value through tangible service-learning opportunities.  We are working to create a world in which ALL youth have the opportunity to experience the life-changing benefits of giving back.
#GPP Youth Heroes Program Will Ignite the Superhero Within Your Students. Our Program Achieves the following goals:
  • Increases mental health and is proven to reduce anxiety and depression among some participants.
  • Provides leadership training and development opportunities for aspiring community leaders.
  • Teaches job readiness skills.
  • Empowers students to take action and make a difference.
  • Assists service learners to make connections between their community experiences and the larger world.
  • Educates students about different geographical regions and cultures of the world.
  • Teaches students that no matter their socio economic status, race, age, abilities, disabilities, and/or adversity they may face in their personal lives, we all have the opportunity to leave a lasting impact in this world through the service of others.
  • Enhances  students' learning by enabling them to practice skills and test classroom knowledge through related service experiences in their local and global communities.

What Else? Our students have an absolute blast giving back to their communities!
#GPP teamed up with Arizona Cardinals Player, Larry Fitzgerald to award one teenager the experience of a lifetime!
Could you imagine interviewing Arizona Cardinals legend, Larry Fitzgerald on the red carpet?! That dream came true for 16-year old Jordan Brandon. The Campo Verde High School student won #GPP's Superhero Sports Reporter Contest and the chance to to interview Larry Fitzgerald on the red carpet at his charity event (Fitz's Supper Club).  #GPP selected Jordan based on a mini- essay she wrote about her experience volunteering at her school's anti-bullying club.

#GPP's Superhero Squad busted in on Jordan's media class to surprise her with the news and an autographed football signed by Larry!  You better believe our cameras were rolling! Watch the video to see how a high school sideline reporter transformed into a red carpet interviewer at Larry Fitzgerald's signature charity event!  We love rewarding real-life superheroes for sensational deeds!
