Join the #GPP
Teen Challenge!

About: Get ready to have some fun while serving your community! #GPP is hosting a Teen Challenge, in which students from Tucson and Phoenix will compete in a Greater Purpose Project that is centered around a book drive.  Each team is competing to collect the most books to stock their own team's pop-up library!

The (student designed) pop-up libraries will be donated to underserved communities in both Tucson and Phoenix.

When: The #GPP Teen Challenge kicks off in early May (and is four weeks long) so register your teens today!

Who: Teenagers (ages 13 - 18). This #GPP Teen Challenge is only available for teens living in Tucson or Phoenix, Arizona. Click on the button below to register yourself or your son/daughter today!

Here's How the Challenge Works!
This competition is (mainly) virtual. Students will connect with a #GPP Coach every week (via Zoom) who will provide the tools and training necessary to host a successful book drive. The teens will compete to collect the most books to fill their pop-up libraries!

The trainings will provide students with job readiness skills and leadership opportunities. (And...Yes! Having fun is mandatory!)

Students that participate will learn:

  • How to execute a successful service project/book drive.
  • Public relations strategy (e.g., drafting press releases and interacting with the media).
  • How to create promotional materials.
  • How to plan a social media campaign.
  • How to establish partnerships with businesses and community leaders.

Our Why: The #GPP Teen Challenge empowers our youth to discover how to utilize their unique abilities (we call those superpowers) to serve their communities. The need to engage teens in meaningful service learning opportunities that boost their mental health and emotional well-being has never been so critical.

According to youth.gov, service learning can improve psychological well-being by reducing anxiety and depression.

Youth that participate in  programs like ours, may experience the following benefits:
  • Getting behind a meaningful cause can lessen certain mental health risks while also reducing loneliness and isolation.
  • Lower levels of problem and delinquent behavior.
  • Improved social skills.
  • Better cooperation skills in the classroom.
  • A better ability to set goals and adjust behavior to reach these goals.
  • Lower stress levels.
  • Increased self-esteem.
  • Connects individuals to a larger purpose.
  • Builds gratitude and develops empathy.
