Planning your 21st birthday is a right of passage 20 year olds have been counting down since the 21st Amendment was passed. (How do I know this? I’m 22 years old.) However, while this event is revered as a milestone, ironically there is a large population of folks who don’t remember it. But that’s not always the case, especially for people like Jane Bader, who is not your average 20 year old.

While they weren’t at Ms. Bader’s party, this 21 year old’s celebration benefited the lives of at least  1,000 starving children. She held her unique bash at the non-profit organization, “Feed My Starving Children,” (FMSC) located  in Tempe, Arizona.

Ms. Bader turned her birthday into a celebration of life and giving; during  her party she and her guests packaged non-perishable food items into bags. Jane’s party bags would then be boxed and shipped to at need countries around the globe. Like any epic party- there was no shortage of music that the party goers  danced and grooved to as  they worked. It was a wonderful experience that Jane was able to share with some of her closest friends. How do I know? I was there. :)

When asked about why she decided to host her birthday event at FMSC Jane replied “Because I think it’s a really good cause and I just know for me when I try to make something solely about myself I just end up feeling unfulfilled.”

With the help of FMSC Jane gave turned her own party into a selfless celebration. The result: she improved the lives of destitute children and aided their chances of survival.

FMSC is a one of a kind organization that was founded in 1987. With locations all over the U.S. they are able to service more than 70 countries. This organization saves lives every day and every volunteer has the knowledge that their work will directly benefit thousands of people.

Curious? Feed My Starving Children has plenty of opportunities to host your own tailor made event at their locations. For more information  visit http://www.fmsc.org/home and  make your next milestone mean something!
