The need to engage young people in #GPP's Programs has never been so critical, as the youth mental health crisis has reached epidemic status. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for young people ages 10 - 14. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) Whereas, one in five teens suffers from clinical depression (MentalHealthAmerica.org) We share this not to alarm you but to impress upon you just how important your support is. Engaging young people in service-learning programs like #GPP's Youth Heroes Program is proven to boost participants' mental health by reducing anxiety and depression.
Additionally, Arizona currently has the second worst graduation rate in the US and ranks #14 for having the worst high school volunteerism in the nation. We are fueled by these statistics as youth that engage in #GPP's Programs are more likely to graduate high school and less likely to engage in risky behavior.
#GPP's Youth Heroes Program offers a solution to these issues by providing children and teens the opportunity to discover their purpose and value through diverse, youth-led Greater Purpose Projects that benefit our communities! At #GPP we help young people discover their superpowers of helping others and loving themselves.
The effect on our participants is profound, as they not only impact the lives of others but also boost their mental health and social-emotional well-being in the service of their communities.
#GPP equips students with the tools, training and mentoring necessary to achieve youth-led service projects that address urgent community needs. Through #GPP's experiential curriculum our participants obtain job readiness skills and develop as leaders. But above all else they grow in self-love through the service of their communities.
While #GPP's Youth Heroes Program is available to ALL, we prioritize working with underserved populations that may not have access to youth empowerment programs.
